The enigmatic and ever-inventive OH Krill (Max Brennan) follows the 'Krill Papers' album with this progressively spirited slab of space funk, drawing Rupert Brown (drums & percussion) and James Nye (keyboards) into the fold for maximum live effect.
Layers of spookily beautiful atmospherics build around a relentless Can inspired groove, as the trio masterfully fuse sequenced parts and virtuoso live instrumentation into a compelling whole.
On the flip side Cherrystones (Twisted Nerve) re-assembles the jazz/folk acoustics of 'Seven Up Swing' (taken from The Krill Papers), stripping the melodic parts to a minimum and replacing live drums with a crisp sampled break and rustic percussion loops; the result is a Schifrin-esque trip that takes the original in a dramatic new direction.
